About the Attorneys

Firm Managing Partner Dennis B. Kass is the Chair of the Complex Litigation team, the leader of the Catastrophic Liability Defense, Class Action and Mass Torts Defense, Special Investigations Unit / Insurance Fraud Litigation, and Trucking and Transportation teams, and a member of the ADA Compliance Litigation team. He has dedicated his career to fighting insurance fraud, taking on organized crime rings, crooked doctors who bill for services not rendered, attorneys who submit a large volume of false insurance claims, and others who simply abuse the system, harming California citizens in the long run. Mr. Kass filed the very first lawsuit using California’s novel anti-fraud law: Insurance Code section 1871.7. He has since filed over 175 such claims and has represented most major insurance carriers. Mr. Kass prevailed on the first trial under this statute, winning an $8.2 million jury verdict against doctors who abused the system by submitting false insurance claims. He has been called as an expert witness on behalf of the insurance industry, and has testified before the California State Assembly.

Founding Partner Eugene P. Ramirez is the leader of the Constitutional Policing and Governmental Entity Liability teams, and a member of the Military and Veterans Law team. He has handled hundreds of cases throughout his career, including class action lawsuits against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit. He advises several public entities on the issues of use of force, canine and SWAT issues, supervisor liability, and policies and procedures. Mr. Ramirez is an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has tried 49 cases to date in both state and federal courts – 12 criminal trials (including murder trials) and 37 civil cases. He has been awarded the LA County Sheriff’s Department Trial Lawyer of the year twice.
