Ellarie K. Reem Leads Real Estate Team to Victory in Breach of Contract Dispute

May 27, 2025

Los Angeles Associate Ellarie K. Reem secured a significant win for one of our Real Estate clients in a matter involving a plaintiff who alleged that our client had breached a contract to sell her home to him. Ms. Reem successfully argued that the contract’s terms permitted our client to cancel the contract under a contingency clause, which allowed her to first locate and secure a home of choice before being obligated to sell to plaintiff. As the market continued to rise, our client was unable to afford her desired home based on the sale price outlined in the agreement with plaintiff. She therefore canceled the contract with plaintiff and sold to another party for a higher amount, enabling her to purchase her home of choice. The plaintiff disputed our client’s right to cancel, claiming that the contract did not give her the right to do so, but the Court ultimately agreed with Ms. Reem’s argument and dismissed the case.

Ellarie K. Reem is a member of the Professional Liability and Real Estate teams.
