Marty Holly Wraps Up the Summer by Celebrating Two Defense Verdicts For Same Client

Martin D. Holly, an attorney on the Manning & Kass Premises Liability Team in Los Angeles, celebrates two defense verdicts at trial in July and August of 2015 for the same 70 billion dollar a year mega retail store.

In one of these cases, a "serial plaintiff" asked for $50k for a hand laceration allegedly caused by store signage, resulting in torn tendons, possible future surgeries, and disfigurement. After a six day trial, the verdict for the firm's client was unanimous, and Mr. Holly will pursue the cost of litigation from the plaintiff.

In the second case, a customer with his nine year old daughter was struck by an automatic cart mover in the retailer's parking lot. He subsequently endured two back surgeries and was declared disabled by Social Security. The plaintiff's medical bills were for more than $800,000 and he also claimed nearly $1,000,000 in lost income. His original demand was for four million dollars. Mr. Holly took the case through to verdict, impeaching the credibility of both the plaintiff and his experts. After a total of nine jury days during a three week timespan, the plaintiff was awarded $0 and Mr. Holly will again pursue the cost of litigation from the plaintiff.
