Legal Malpractice
Manning Kass represents attorneys and law firms who have faced malpractice claims arising out of their handling of such diverse matters as litigation, intellectual property, family law, bankruptcy, real estate, eminent domain, probate, insurance coverage, products liability, wrongful death, personal injury, and transactional law. These lawsuits have been based upon allegations such as rendering negligent legal advice, engaging in negligent tactics, breaching duties of loyalty and confidentiality, and fraudulent misrepresentation, among other causes of action.
Our Legal Malpractice team takes a proactive and practical approach in defending legal malpractice cases throughout the country. We’ve been successful in defending a multitude of cases, from the minor to the complex. Our team approaches all cases with the goal of an early and favorable resolution considering the cost and sensitive nature of the cases. Our attorneys are both regionally and nationally preeminent in legal malpractice and frequently publish articles in the field. Our attorneys also lecture at various Claims Litigation Management (“CLM”), Defense Research Institute (“DRI”), and Professional Liability Underwriting Society (“PLUS”) conferences.
Because of our team’s success in defending attorneys in legal malpractice litigation, our practice in this area has experienced significant growth in the last decade. The Legal Malpractice team is panel counsel for a large number of insurers who provide legal malpractice insurance. Our team is also often retained by insurers and brokers to conduct risk management audits of attorneys and firms for purposes of insurance renewal or new coverage.
