Marisa Zarate is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. She is a member of the Government Entity Liability team.

Ms. Zarate is an accomplished career trial litigator with 25 years of experience as a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney with over 60 jury trials, including 12 homicides, 87 court trials, and hundreds of negotiated plea deals. During her tenure with the District Attorney's Office, she was assigned to various specialized units including Sex Crimes, Family Violence and the Major Fraud Divisions.

Having received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA, it was while volunteering as a rape crisis counselor attending a criminal trial in downtown Los Angeles as a "support person" that Ms. Zarate realized she wanted to be a prosecutor. Thereafter, she attended Loyola Law School and interned in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office through the Hobbs Trial Advocacy program where she confirmed her passion for trial work. As a member of the firm's Governmental Entity Defense team, Ms. Zarate continues that passionate work in litigation.
