About the Role

The Docketing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm’s docketing department, providing essential and specialized support to attorneys and case teams throughout all phases of the calendaring and docketing process. This position is responsible for supervising docketing staff, managing the maintenance of deadlines, and ensuring accurate and timely electronic and paper filings with the courts. The Docketing Supervisor must possess extensive knowledge and understanding of California court jurisdictions, venues, rules of court, calendaring procedures, and pleadings, while ensuring firm-wide compliance with docketing protocols and best practices.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all docketing department operations, adhering to deadlines and court rules in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the docketing team, providing training, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain and update our docketing system to track court deadlines, filing requirements, and other critical dates.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all docket entries, case data, and correspondence entered by the team.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local court rules, as well as firm policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between attorneys, paralegals, and other staff regarding docketing-related inquiries, updates, and training.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the docketing department.
  • Provide periodic departmental reports on metrics such as workflow, accuracy, and staffing needs.
  • Track and calendar incoming requests, especially in cases with fast approaching deadlines


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal docketing, with prior experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal docketing software (e.g., CompuLaw, ProLaw, or similar). specializing in Compulaw
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience training and developing staff.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external parties.
  • Able to be resourceful in researching information through Court websites, legal publications of procedures, rules.


Company Offers

  • Salary range $75,000 - $85,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and locations.
