Angela Powell Serves as Panelist at California Association of Black Lawyers Conference

The Thirty-Eighth Annual California Association of Black Lawyers Conference was held April 23 -26, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. The California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) has an illustrious history and lineage of courage, activism and participation in the political process. The primary motivating factor for the organization's formation was to change the face of the judiciary in California and to influence the course of events pertinent to black people. The objectives and purposes included "the stimulation of black lawyers in organized bar activities, to seek out and eradicate the roots and causes of racism, and to prepare the high standards of integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession."

An experienced litigator and senior counsel in the Los Angeles office of Manning & Kass, Angela M. Powell, participated in the Saturday session entitled, "Litigating Excessive Force Cases.” Ms. Powell was the sole representative who defends governmental entities, among several plaintiff's lawyers on the panel. Her presence made such an impact that she received several immediate requests for futher panel appearances on the topic of police and community relationships.
