Manning & Kass Names Four New Partners

The law firm of Manning & Kass is pleased to announce four new partners: Kenneth S. Kawabata, of the firm's San Diego office; Jennifer Supman, of the San Francisco office; Robyn Park Freiberg, also from San Diego; and Steven Amundson, of the Los Angeles office.

Kenneth S. Kawabata specializes in the defense of employment litigation matters with a particular focus on discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination claims. Mr. Kawabata provides legal counsel to a wide variety of Fortune 500 and middle market companies, including in the hospitality, retail, biotech, telecommunications, ATM, insurance, and defense industries. Mr. Kawabata’s community involvement includes active participation as a member at large of the Asian Business Association of San Diego, and prior service as a member of the Board of Directors for the Asian Business Association of San Diego. Mr. Kawabata is also an active member of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego and is involved in PALSD’s program to mentor new lawyers and law students. Mr. Kawabata has been named a 2014 Southern California Super Lawyer.

Jennifer Supman specializes in real estate litigation; professional liability defense, including all types of E&O and D&O claims; construction defect litigation; landlord-tenant disputes; general civil litigation and transactional real estate matters. Ms. Supman is counsel of record for several prominent real estate brokerage firms in the Bay Area. Ms. Supman received the distinction of being named as a 2009 and 2013–2014 Super Lawyer Rising Star by Law & Politics Magazine. Ms. Supman is a member and active participant in the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). Ms. Supman was also nominated for and attended the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) Trial School in 2013.

Robyn Park Freiberg has handled thousands of cases including 12 trials to verdict—two of which were jury trials—and an appellate oral argument. She has filed successful petitions for reconsideration, obtained “take nothings” as well as several case and tens of lien dismissals. Ms. Park Freiberg is also a former claims examiner, thereby affording her a unique and well-rounded perspective of all aspects of workers’ compensation system including reserving and addressing employer concerns.

Steven Amundson's practice has a particular emphasis in the areas of wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and wage and hour matters. He has appeared in both state and federal trial courts, and his experience includes representation through trial. Mr. Amundson has successfully brought motions for summary judgment, obtained dismissals, and favorably resolved high-exposure, multi-million dollar cases involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and wage and hour claims. Mr. Amundson has been named a 2009–2011 and 2013–2014 Super Lawyer Rising Star.
