Manning & Kass Supports 2015 Justice Jog to Benefit CASA

On Sunday, September 27,  614 legal professionals rose early to complete the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators' 8th Annual "Justice Jog," a 5k charity run to benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Los Angeles, part of a national network of 76,000 volunteers who stand up in court for children who are abused or neglected.

The Manning & Kass team included attorneys Ryan Guiboa (Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality) and Shakira Ferguson (Workers' Compensation), as well as a number of dedicated staff from the firm's Information Technology and Business Development Departments.

To become a CASA volunteer does not require a law degree, but does require court approval and a two year commitment of 10-20 hours per month. These volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.

Volunteers stay with children until they are placed in loving permanent homes. For many abused children, a CASA volunteer is the only constant adult presence in their lives. To find out more, click here.
