Mildred K. O'Linn Contributes Chapter to Police Union Book

Mildred K. O'Linn, a nationally known use of force expert and partner in the firm's Los Angeles office, has authored a chapter of Ron DeLord and Ron York's new book, Law Enforcement, Police Unions, and the Future: Educating Police Management and Unions About the Challenges Ahead.

Police unions, the authors claim, must change the way they do business if they want to survive. The book, divided into five sections, explores (1) police challenges, (2) union power, (3) reforms, (4) the future of policing, and (5)national and international police perspectives.

Chapter 34, entitled "Response to PERF's '30 Guiding Principles' Document," authored by Ms. O'Linn, expands her ideas originally published in a PoliceOne magazine article (Cops are Not Ninjas). In her writing, Ms. O'Linn defends "the overwhelming number of good cops that everyday put themselves in harm's way" against a media she claims is focused on "bad cop syndrome … plastering the airwaves with the epidemic of police abuse."

The book can be purchased at Amazon dot com and other outlets.
