Mildred O’Linn Speaks on Navigating the Legal Decision of Post-Incident Statements in Force Science News Article

Mildred K. O’Linn, Equity Partner and Co-Leader of the Governmental Entity Liability team, was recently interviewed for Force Science News’ article: “Stop Watching the Clock, But Don’t Ignore the Constitution”. 

The article was written in response to another Force Science News article, in which the author examined factors like sleep and stress on the accuracy of memory recall following a critical incident. In the recent piece, the author, Von Kleim, addresses the legal decision of whether and when officers should provide post-incident statements. Ms. O’Linn weighs in on the discussion by highlighting the critical need for officers to "slow down" and consult with counsel, ensuring constitutional rights aren't sacrificed for the sake of investigative efficiency.

Before her career in law, Ms. O’Linn was a police officer for eight years. She has been repeatedly recognized for her experience as a litigator.
