Motion for Summary Judgment Granted in Disputed Pregnancy Discrimination Case

The Manning & Kass Employment Team, led by Los Angeles partner Liz Murphy, recently prevailed on a Motion for Summary Judgment on behalf of the firm’s client. The case involved allegations of pregnancy discrimination by a former employee, who claimed that following her pregnancy leave of absence, her employer should have placed her back in the exact same exact assignment that she held before her leave. In a case of first impression regarding interpretation of California’s new Pregnancy Disability Leave Law, Ms. Murphy and her team persuaded the Court to rule in the employer’s favor, even though the tentative ruling was partially against them.
