André C. Bruce is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is a member of the Employment Law team.
Mr. Bruce concentrates his practice on wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims, DFEH claims, EEOC claims, and DLSE claims, among other topics.
Before joining Manning Kass, Mr. Bruce was General Counsel of a federal defense contractor, where he oversaw the Legal, Compliance, and Human Resources departments and served as legal advisor to the company’s Executive Leadership. Mr. Bruce maintained responsibility for leading internal investigations of employment law matters, managing outside counsel, and administering and enforcing the company’s code of conduct and employee handbook.
Before his tenure as General Counsel, Mr. Bruce served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Maryland, handling some of the office's most serious and politically sensitive cases. As a prosecutor, he developed and honed exceptional skills as a litigator and trial attorney, serving as the key advisor on the planning and strategy of hundreds of grand jury investigations and handling all aspects of litigation, including preparing motions and pleadings, responding to discovery requests, interviewing witnesses, attending motions hearings, and trying cases to verdict. Mr. Bruce also secured the largest civil judgment in office history.
Just after law school, Mr. Bruce spent time at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist, managing the employment discrimination investigations for the Forest Service Agency.
Mr. Bruce received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a member of the California and Maryland State Bars.
