Ellen Burach-Zion is a Partner in the New York office of Manning Kass. She is a member of the Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith, Special Investigations Unit / Insurance Fraud Litigation, and Trucking and Transportation teams.

Ms. Burach-Zion is a member of the Complex Litigation team. She is experienced in insurance, financial and medical fraud investigations, litigation in high exposure cases, claim management, examinations under oath and depositions, and legal and financial compliance in prestigious legal organizations and government institutions. Mrs. Burach-Zion has amassed comprehensive experience in handling complex claims and cases and performing top-flight fraud investigations and analysis, collaborating with motivated and productive teams, and maximizing restitution efforts to achieve substantial funding recoveries.

As a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, Mrs. Burach-Zion prosecuted all types of white-collar crime and arson cases, specializing in automobile and medical insurance fraud. One of these cases constituted the underlying facts in the pivotal New York Court of Appeals case of State Farm v. Mallela involving the fraud ring known as the "Avenue U Medical Scam" run by the "Czarina of Fraud" (New York Post, June 26, 2000). Mrs. Burach-Zion went on to represent some of the major insurance companies in New York State, including representing Travelers Insurance Company as in-house counsel, and arbitrating and litigating complex and high exposure insurance matters including Civil RICO actions, and rendering advice regarding coverage, claims policies and Special Investigation Unit practices.

Mrs. Burach-Zion has been called upon by numerous carriers to assist in the litigation against complex auto insurance fraud rings, and regularly conducts presentations about medical fraud and affirmative litigation issues. She has received recognition for her work in this area, including receiving an award from the New York State Financial Services Bureau for the prosecution of insurance fraud.

Mrs. Burach-Zion graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in political science and received her Juris Doctor from Buffalo Law School.
