John M. Hochhausler is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is the leader of the Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith team, and a member of the Construction Law and Construction Defect teams.

Mr. Hochhausler represents a broad array of domestic and international insurers in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. His practice is concentrated in handling disputes involving professional errors and omissions, product liability, employment practices liability and commercial general liability policies. He has handled 46 trials and binding arbitrations. Mr. Hochhausler also represents numerous owners, construction companies, and design professionals in construction claims litigation. 

Mr. Hochhausler handled the following appellate matters: Target Corp. v. Golden State Ins. (2019) 41 Cal. App. 5th 13; Wilmington Liquid Bulk Terminals, Inc. v. Somerset Marine, Inc. (1997) 53 Cal.App.4th 186; Izenberg v. ETS Services, LLC et al. 2008 WL 5179008 (2008 C.D.Cal.); Pineda v. Saxon Mortgage Services, Inc. et al. , 2008 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 102439 (2008 C.D.Cal.); and Flores v. Deutsche Bank Trust Company, et al. , 2009 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 8883 (2008 C.D.Cal.).

In addition to practicing, Mr. Hochhausler is a frequent speaker on insurance coverage issues and regularly provides claims adjuster training sessions under California insurance regulations.

Mr. Hochhausler received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis. While obtaining his law degree, Mr. Hochhausler was a research assistant to Professor James Hogan for the update of his treatise, "Modern California Discovery.

Mr. Hochhausler is an avid mountaineer and outdoorsman, and volunteers as an assistant basketball coach at San Marino High School.
