Michael Larin is a Partner at the Los Angeles office at Manning Kass. He is a member of the Catastrophic Liability Defense, Class Action and Mass Torts Defense, Construction Defect, Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith, Landlord / Tenant / Habitability, Premises Liability, and Trucking and Transportation teams.

Mr. Larin has been practicing law in California for forty-eight years. He has a broad range of experience in general liability and commercial litigation, including but not limited to premises liability, construction injury, construction defect, construction delay, contractor claims, product liability, auto and trucking, and business disputes. In addition, he has tried cases involving real estate errors and omissions and legal malpractice; he has served as a trial expert in legal malpractice. He is an insurance coverage expert, regularly lecturing on a variety of coverage issues.

In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Larin authored Laying Down the Law, a comprehensive guide to everything one needs to know about the law, lawyers, lawsuits, and courts.  The first part of the book acts as a foundational overview of the legal process, explaining why societies create laws, how the courts function, how attorneys work with their clients, how legal fees are structured, and a breakdown on what lawsuits are really about. The second part of the book brings these concepts to life by walking through a fictional injury lawsuit from start to finish, covering everything from discovery and mediation to jury selection and trial. Mr. Larin also has served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles County courts, and is an active mediator.
