Michael L. Smith is the Managing Partner of the San Francisco office of Manning Kass. He is the leader of the Professional Liability – Insurance Agent team, the San Francisco leader of the Real Estate team, and a member of the Construction Defect, Premises Liability, and Trucking and Transportation teams.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Detroit (Bachelor of Science) and California Western School of Law (Juris Doctor).
Mr. Smith is an experienced trial attorney whose practice area includes professional liability, real estate professional E&O, insurance agent E&O, land surveyor defense, appraiser defense, legal malpractice, director and officer liability, complex business litigation, construction litigation representing contractors and subcontractors, public entity defense, and premises and products liability.
Mr. Smith is admitted to the bar in California and before the United States District Court, Central and Eastern Districts. He is a member of the State Bar of California and past member of the American Inns of Court and Desert Bar Association. Mr. Smith has also served as a judge pro tem in the Riverside County Superior Court for mandatory settlement conferences in the Desert Judicial District, and has served as a mediator in professional liability cases.
