Soraya Campbell is a Partner in the New York office of Manning Kass. She is a member of the Insurance Coverage / Bad Faith team. 

Ms. Campbell’s primary concentration is investigating and litigating fraudulent insurance claims and general litigation. She is an experienced civil defense attorney who has practiced at both the trial and appellate levels in various jurisdictions. Having represented the nation’s top insurance companies against no-fault claims and prosecuting affirmative recovery litigation in state court, Ms. Campbell’s expertise includes counseling healthcare insurers on fraud prevention, conducting examinations under oath, managing all phases of discovery, preparing for trial, and regularly representing her clients in intricate arbitration proceedings. She has litigated countless declaratory judgment actions regarding staged and/or intentionally caused motor vehicle accidents, material misrepresentation in the procurement of the policy of insurance, and fraudulently incorporated medical providers, resulting in significant savings for the insurance industry. She has successfully argued complex summary judgment motions and procured significant discovery rulings, dismissals before trial, and favorable trial verdicts.

Ms. Campbell began her legal career in the public sector as an Assistant District Attorney with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases for over five years. Within her first year of being in the office, she was promoted to the Special Victims Grand Jury and presented complex felony cases, some of which involved child witnesses. She quickly ascended to the Narcotics Trials Division and the prominent Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau within three years of being in the office. She gained invaluable experience in investigating and trying a wide range of felony criminal cases, including felony assault, robbery, rape, sexual abuse, and drug possession, among others, to verdict. During her tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, she had the privilege of assisting with securing convictions on some of the City’s most high profile cases.

Subsequent to the District Attorney’s office, Ms. Campbell turned her focus to civil litigation by joining a New York law firm as an Associate in the Real Estate Division. Her practice consisted of commercial and residential leasing and ownership, assignment and sublet provisions, termination rights, and other prominent lease interpretation issues.

Outside of the courtroom, Ms. Campbell’s interests align with her commitment to justice and service. She is committed to working with young people and underscoring the importance of higher education. She has spoken at various high schools and universities and has been a mentor at the You Can Go to College Committee, a nonprofit organization that assists high school students to prepare for college. She has steadfastly promoted awareness to helping the citizens of Haiti and has assisted organizations that are instrumental in changing and cultivating the conditions of the country. She has had the honor of serving on the New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children where she assisted with the implementation of the New York Early Intervention System. She was a member of the Nassau County Judicial Screening Board for four consecutive years, where she provided invaluable judgment on potential judicial candidates. Moreover, she is currently serving a five-year term as a Member of the esteemed Board of Directors of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, a highly coveted and prestigious position among the medical community. 

Ms. Campbell is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, State of Connecticut, State of Georgia, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
