Lou Pappas and Angela Powell Win Defense Verdict in Elder Abuse/Wrongful Death Trial

A downtown Los Angeles jury recently returned a defense verdict in favor of Lou Pappas and Angela Powell's client, a skilled nursing facility, following a four week trial that centered on claims of elder abuse and wrongful death. Plaintiffs were represented by two very skilled trial attorneys, who – along with Mr. Pappas – are ABOTA members. Plaintiff’s counsel had demanded a 7 figure settlement and then asked the jury to award damages ranging between $7M-$10M, not including attorney's fees and potentially punitive damages.

Our elder abuse attorneys are unafraid to take on the most demanding and complicated cases, which is critical in the unique world of elder abuse litigation, where many of the leading adversaries pursue a “scorched earth” approach, designed to wear down their opposition and where there is the potential for a jury to award significant damages.
