Manning Kass Partners Recognized By Los Angeles Times

Congratulations to Los Angeles Partners Missy K. O’Linn and Emily C. Edwards on their recent recognition by the Los Angeles Times. The latest edition of their "Business 2 Business" magazine is focused on “Inspirational Women” and recognizes female leaders in a variety of roles and positions across Los Angeles. Both women were recognized as nominees for the Inspirational Women Leadership Awards and received a spotlight in the magazine, along with their fellow nominees.

Missy O’Linn is the Co-Leader of the Governmental Entity Liability team at Manning Kass. She has an unparalleled background as an attorney and is nationally recognized as a technical expert in peace officer civil liability, training and tactics, and the defense of governmental entities. In her 38 year legal career, Ms. O'Linn has been repeatedly recognized for her skills as a litigator and trainer, including memberships in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Litigation Counsel of America as a Senior Fellow, and recognition by the Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriffs Association's as the recipient of the Award for Civilian Leadership, the City of Gretna Louisiana Police Department's Meritorious Service Award, and the California POST Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Training. She was inducted into Safariland Training Group's "Monadnock Hall of Fame" for her dedicated service to educating those who are tasked to protect others. She was also a featured speaker in the 2020 LA-ABOTA Masters in Trial Program, "Put Your Pants on and Pick a Jury" series in the Civil Rights - Police Misconduct presentation. 

Emily C. Edwards is the leader of the Military and Veterans Law team and a Partner on the Workers’ Compensation team. She has experience representing insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and public entities in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense. Ms. Edwards frequently participates in client trainings regarding best practices for handling and mitigating exposure for workers' compensation and employment claims. She also conducts webinar presentations and presents at conferences throughout the country regarding all aspects of California workers’ compensation law. Ms. Edwards utilizes these trainings to ensure that insurance carriers, employers, and public entities are informed regarding relevant case law and reforms which may affect their business practices and claims management strategies.
