Several Manning Kass Attorneys Recognized By Super Lawyers

Manning Kass congratulates several attorneys who were recently recognized by Super Lawyers. Founding Partners Anthony J. Ellrod and Fredric W. Trester, and Partner Steven J. Renick were selected as Super Lawyers, and Partner Jason J. Doshi and Associate Dane C. Cummaro were recognized as Rising Stars.

Super Lawyers is a rating service and directory of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Individuals are nominated by their peers on an annual basis and then reviewed. Their attorney selection process is peer-influenced and research-driven, selecting the top 5% of attorneys to the Super Lawyers list each year. The list is distributed for free online. 

About The Attorneys

Anthony J. Ellrod is a Founding Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is the leader of the Business Litigation, Corporate and Commercial Transactions, Intellectual Property, and Sports, Recreation, and Attractions Law teams. Mr. Ellrod holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and is an Associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He was named a 2012-2019 Top Business Litigation Attorney by Pasadena Magazine, as well as a 2005–2010, 2016-2024 Super Lawyer, and a 2009-2010 Super Lawyer – Business Addition.

Fredric W. Trester is a Founding Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is the leader of the Professional Liability and Real Estate teams. Mr. Trester has represented professionals—including lawyers, real estate brokers, escrow agents, insurance agents, architects, and engineers—in litigation, for more than three decades, and has also handled entertainment law and trust and estates matters. Mr. Trester is well known in the real estate brokerage community as a go-to attorney for high end real estate related litigation. He has also been called upon to provide expert witness services in cases brought against real estate professionals and attorneys.

Steven J. Renick is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is a member of the Appellate Law (Strategy, Writs, & Appeals) team. Mr. Renick leads the firm’s four-person Supreme Court specialty focus within the Appellate Law (Strategy, Writs, and Appeals) team. The firm’s Appellate Law (Strategy, Writs, and Appeals) Team provides specialized legal support for the firm’s various other legal teams, with the goal of further enhancing the quality of legal representation provided to all of the firm’s clients. Mr. Renick has concentrated on appellate law for 25 years, handling a wide range of cases in both the federal and the state courts, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has argued three cases in the California Supreme Court and has had two petitions for certiorari granted by the United States Supreme Court. He also briefed a third case on the merits at the U.S. Supreme Court. All six of these cases resulted in unanimous reversals in favor of the firm’s clients.

Jason J. Doshi is a Partner in the San Diego office of Manning Kass. He is a member of the Workers’ Compensation practice. Mr. Doshi received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law. Mr. Doshi is admitted to the California State Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Defense Lawyers. He has been named a 2015–2024 Rising Star, a distinction awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of the attorneys in a state.

Dane C. Cummaro is an Associate in the Los Angeles office of Manning Kass. He is a member of the Healthcare Liability team. His practice is focused primarily on the defense of residential care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and acute care hospitals. Prior to joining Manning Kass, Mr. Cummaro worked for a boutique litigation firm, where he represented individuals in personal injury, products liability, civil rights, and premises liability matters in both state and federal court. Mr. Cummaro earned his law degree at Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of San Diego. While obtaining his law degree, Mr. Cummaro became a certified mediator through the school's Civil Mediation Clinic.
