"Energy Weaponry" Case Expediently Dismissed

Manning & Kass attorneys Eugene P. Ramirez, who leads the firm's Governmental Entity Liability Defense Team, and associate Andi K. Kornblau recently obtained a dismissal of a case involving objectively bizarre allegations.

Plaintiff filed a civil rights/use of force action against the City of Oxnard, alleging that Oxnard Police officers attacked and killed his pet cats with bursts and pulses from energy weaponry, gas, and microwaves. Plaintiff also claimed that he was regularly assaulted through constant covert monitoring, manipulation of his consciousness, poison in his food, and sabotage of his romantic relationships. Manning & Kass successfully filed a motion declaring the plaintiff a vexatious litigant, and caused his name to be added to the California Judicial Council Vexatious Litigant List. Plaintiff's complaint was subsequently pre-screened and, after a finding that the claims ran afoul of the Vexatious Litigant Order, dismissed by the Court.
